Time: 3 Day Course
Our most popular 3-day course is designed to provide expert hands-on training for pilots looking to earn their Single-Engine Seaplane (SES) Rating in either the Searey or Cessna 172 and includes:
- Ground School: Industry leading lessons on seaplane operations, safety procedures, and regulations from our world class trainers.
- Flight Training: 4 hours of dual flight instruction (an additional free hour may be added per the trainer’s recommendation for those that require extra learning time).
- Check-Ride: The aircraft rental is included in the check ride and an additional $1,000
fee will need paid directly to the Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE), which is subject to
change. - Timeframe: With ideal weather conditions, the SES course should take two days to complete, with the check-ride on the morning of the third day.
Additional Information:
- Success Rate: Approximately XX% pass the rating on the first try after our extensive and
rigorous training regiment with most fails due to not being current on small aircraft
flight hours. - Current Flight Hours: We strongly encourage all students to arrive current and
proficient in flying Cesena and/or small aircraft and recommend our Pre-Training 2
hours of Dual Instruction Add-on if you are not current (this requires arriving a day
early). - Biennial Flight Review (BFR): This course can also count toward your BFR, saving you
time and money. - Capacity: We limit our students to a maximum of 2 at a time to provide appropriate
one on one instruction.
High Performance Single-Engine Seaplane Rating Add On
Price: +$1,000
This specialized Seaplane Flying Course offers both foundational and advanced training for pilots looking to master the art of amphibious seaplane flying. Training can also include high-performance and complex endorsements. The course is an add-on to our SES training and includes an additional 2 additional hours of training in our high powered 300hp Cessna 185 for an unforgettable flying experience.

Time: 2 Day Course, with up to 5 hours of flying time
Under the FAA’s new MOSAIC regulations, Sport Pilots can now pursue seaplane privileges through logbook endorsements and practical testing requirements outlined under current FAA rules. This course is ideal for Sport Pilots looking to expand their flying privileges and experience the freedom of seaplane flying and includes:
Ground School
- Seaplane aerodynamics and performance
- Water operations and safety procedures
- FAA regulations and Sport Pilot operations under MOSAIC
- Risk management and aeronautical decision-making
Flight Training
- Dual flight instruction in the Cessna 172 Float Plane or SeaRey
- Normal, rough water, and glassy water takeoffs and landings
- Docking, sailing, idle taxi, and step taxi techniques
- Emergency procedures and real-world scenarios
Commercial Ratings (No additional fees)
All courses can be done as a commercial rating provided that you hold a commercial pilots license at the time of training. As such, you may want to finalize your commercial rating prior to getting your seaplane rating because otherwise you would have to take the course again to obtain your seaplane rating.
Refunds and Cancellations
All flights or training cancelled due to weather will be provided a full refund.
Hourly Training:
- You may cancel or reschedule for a full refund up to 48 hours prior to your flight. Late arrivals and rescheduling within 48 hours will have a 25% fee imposed. Flights canceled within 48 hours are non-refundable.
Training Courses
- Cancel up to 2 weeks before for a full refund
- Reschedule up to a week before allowed one time (no refund option thereafter)
- Cancellations within 7 days will forfeit their full deposit. Additionally, customer will
be responsible for 50% of the DPE check-ride fee (this gets paid directly to the DPE).

Cessna 185 Seaplane Training – 300 Horsepower
Experience in-depth seaplane training with our powerful 300-horsepower Cessna 185 equipped with EDO straight floats. This specialized Seaplane Flying Course offers both foundational and advanced training for pilots looking to master the art of amphibious seaplane flying.
Course Highlights:
Ground School: Comprehensive lessons covering seaplane safety, operations, and regulations.
Flight Training: Up to 5 hours of dual flight instruction including aircraft rental for your check-ride.
